Born at the beginning of the Baby Boomer era in the Appalachian region of Eastern Tennessee, Brenda now lives in Central Texas, near Austin. She began writing in junior high school where she wrote an admittedly hokey western serial to entertain her friends. Completing her graduate studies in Eastern European history in 1971, she worked as a graphic artist, a public relations specialist for the military and a display advertising specialist before she finally had to admit her mother might have been right (again) and earned her teaching certification. For the last twenty-plus years she has taught world history and political science. Brenda and her partner of twelve years, Cheryl, are the parents of four grown children, Kenneth, Amy, Laura, and Jamie. They also have three grandchildren, Michael, 6, Morgan, 3, and Samantha, three months. Rounding out their home are three temperamental cats, Bitsey, May-May, and Tootie, and two dogs, a Blue Heeler mix puppy named PeeWee, and a rescued hyperactive poodle mix named Pogo. The name alone should give you a hint concerning his hyperactivity level. Raised in a military family, Brenda has a son who has recently returned from Afghanistan, a son-in-law still in Afghanistan, and a second son-in-law stationed in Brussels, Belgium. When she is not writing, Brenda creates stained glass and shoots pool at her favorite bar. She may be contacted at adcockb10@yahoo.com and welcomes all comments. |
